REC recently undertook a ground investigation on the Winstanley and York Road Estate regeneration project for Winstanley & York Road Regeneration LLP (a Joint Venture between Taylor Wimpey Central London and Wandsworth Borough Council). The regeneration is proposed to comprise the construction of more than 2,500 homes and a leisure centre. The works were carried out over two phases and comprised cable percussive drilling to maximum depths of 80.00m, window sampling, trial pitting to expose foundations and buried services, soil infiltration testing, as well as various chemical and geotechnical laboratory testing.
The site investigation works carried out were complex due to working within a large residential area with active car parks and a community park. This was overcome by the successful planning of the works and start-up meetings in order to ensure the project was carried out as efficiently as possible, with minimal disturbance to the local residents, and completed on time and within budget.
Following completion of the investigation in September 2018, construction work has commenced on the residential apartment blocks.
