REC recently hosted a property and environmental forum at the Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce Group event last week from our offices based in Shrivenham, Swindon. The event aimed to engage with a broad range of property professionals by hosting a programme of events to provide both networking opportunities and to debate issues/challenges that impact on the property sector.
Gary Cranford, BM from Thames Valley Chamber (TVCCG) said:
‘’Delegates joined Chamber staff at the recent property and environmental forum hosted in Swindon. The theme was flood risk and its impact of future development. Three guest speakers covered topics such as flood risk education for residents and businesses, early site assessment of proposed land development and the long term constraints for economic development in the Swindon region.”
“We were pleased to hear the views of three experienced individuals in their own field which contributed to an informative debate about the impact of flooding on future development.’’
“Our thanks goes to Chamber members DPDS Consulting, Resource and Environmental Consultants Ltd, who also hosted the event and Swindon Borough Council.’’
Paul Dennis, Associate Director for REC in Swindon covered the importance of ‘Effective Early Site Assessment’ using examples of applying a pragmatic approach to brownfield issues (including flood risk, contaminated land and ecology) to demonstrate how we have be able to assist developers discharge planning conditions for various types and sizes of project.
