Assessing ecology constraints – the importance for developers and planners




Hosted by Regional Director, James Patmore BSc (Hons) CEcol CEnv CBol MCIEEM MRSB, the presentation and discussion will look at key ecological issues for development schemes to address in 2017, followed by informal networking.

What will we cover?

 The talk will look at development sites and ecology considerations, from initial assessment (Preliminary Ecological Assessment stage including Phase 1 Habitat), through to detailed surveys for protected species such as great crested newts, including seasonality of surveys and how to plan ahead, and finally implementation works such as species translocations and the role of ecological clerk of works. It will also will include practical details on how consultants go about doing ecology work and who we liaise and consult with as part of that process.

Who is it for?

Developers, their advisors and planners, who come across ecology considerations as part of their work and need a better appreciation of the subject and how it informs the work that they do.
