Protected Species Surveys

Working throughout the UK, REC’s ecological consultants are experienced in protected species surveys, mitigation and advice; ensuring that planners, developers and other clients adhere to legislation, whilst meeting planning conditions as quickly and effectively as possible.

Protected Species Surveys

A large number of species are protected under The Conservation of Habitats and Species Regulations 2010 and/or the Wildlife & Countryside Act 1981. The findings of your initial PEA or Phase 1 habitat survey will determine whether or not you need a protected species survey. However, any development site that has the potential to disturb or disrupt protected species or their habitat, will most likely need to undertake a protected species survey.

Some surveys are time limited due to seasonal constraints. If a protected species survey is needed, it is crucial that it is carried out as early as possible to avoid unnecessary delays to planning. REC’s ecology team is highly qualified in undertaking various types of protected species surveys for a multitude of sites, from major development schemes to small scale projects. To find out more about the protected species surveys we undertake, click through to the relevant page below.
