LEV Testing and Examination Services
Regulation 9 of the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (CoSHH) Regulations requires that any measures taken to provide effective control through the use of Local Exhaust Ventilation (dust or fume extraction equipment) must be maintained in effective working order and also in good repair.
Who needs LEV Testing?
Every Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) system must be examined and tested at least once every 14 months, with certain processes requiring a more regular frequency of testing. Regulation 9 also specifies that records of all test results must be kept including details of any repairs carried out as a result of the examination. These records should be kept for a minimum of 5 years.
It’s a popular misconception amongst operators of LEV systems that their system must be maintained, examined and tested by the original supplier of that equipment. This service can actually be provided, in many cases, far more cost effectively and efficiently by an independent specialist who can give impartial advice on the legal requirements under the CoSHH regulations.
LEV Testing Services
In accordance with HSG 258 (“Controlling airborne contaminants at work: a guide to LEV”), REC can provide a ‘thorough examination and testing’ of your LEV systems by a competent person. Our detailed report will include a prioritised list of any remedial actions for the employer to be aware of and to act upon. It will also include:
