The REC Stansted office recently provided a client with significant savings in their remediation costs following an appraisal of previous investigation work carried out by another party.
The previous consultant completed two phases of the geo-environmental site investigation. The arsenic concentrations identified in the first phase of the investigation were all less than the SGV. However, during the second phase of investigation spasmodic detection significantly above the SGV were identified, resulting in the consultant recommending a 600mm site strip to be replaced with clear soil.
Following our review of the reports, REC were asked to provide validation of the results and provide revised recommendation for remediation. The work completed by REC showed that the detections were spurious and that in reality, no remediation was required at the site. The estimated cost saving to the client in £250,000.
