Outbreak of Legionnaires Disease Contained

REC Facilities Management were contacted after encountering a problem at a property under their management. Legionella water samples taken from the water supply system returned a positive result after laboratory testing.

REC were subsequently brought in as a consultant to assess the reasons for the positive returned result and to provide a solution to reduce the future risk of Legionella contamination.

REC assessed and remediated the five storey office block over a single weekend, meaning there was no disruption to the building's operation during the working week.  After completion of the remediation and chlorination, the water supply system was re-sampled to ensure there was no trace of the contamination left in the system. The second set of samples returned negative result, all traces of Legionella bacteria had been succesfully removed by REC.

The client has a portfolio of over 200 commercial properties throughout the UK and REC Facilities Management continue to manage and control the Legionella risk throughout their entire portfolio of properties.
