Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control Project Summaries

Preparation of Part A1 and A2 IPPC Applications

REC prepared Part A1 and A2 applications for a client’s two sites in Congleton and Sheffield. This included Site Condition Reports and a complete application document for submission to the EA and Local Authority.

The work also involved the undertaking of noise surveys, effluent sampling and analysis and limited intrusive contaminated land investigations to ascertain ground conditions.

Gap Analysis and Preparation of IPPC Application, Wirral

REC firstly undertook a gap analysis to determine what further information was required to pull together an IPPC application given the information the client already had. This allowed REC and the client to then focus on obtaining the additional information required, e.g. noise/vibration issues, well in advance of the application date. REC is now in the process of completing the application and Site Report for submission to the EA.

Preparation of Part A1 Application VIL, UK

REC is in the process of completing a permit application for a company manufacturing solvent based resins under the Organic Chemicals section. This has involved emission monitoring, noise monitoring and preparation of the Site Report and permit application documentation to allow a application to be made early 2006.

Environmental Monitoring for a food manufacturer, Wigan

REC was commissioned by a food manufacturer to monitor solvent concentrations released from the canning line as required under their IPPC permit. This work was audited by the Environment Agency and carried out to their satisfaction.

REC was also involved in the collection and analysis of soil samples from various on site locations and an assessment as to potential contamination levels at the site.

Monitoring and Modelling of Process Emissions, S Wales

The Environment Agency H1 assessment carried out by the company and their consultant had indicated a potential problem with regard to SO2 and NO2 emissions from oil fired boiler plant. REC undertook an emission monitoring survey to measure emission concentrations of pollutants at various plant loads. We then undertook an ADMS3 dispersion modelling study to estimate ground level concentrations of SO2 and NO2 beyond the site boundary and found that the plant did not contribute significantly to background levels.

Preparation of Site Protection Monitoring Plan, North East

REC was commissioned, as part of the sites upgrading programme, to prepare a Site Protection Monitoring Plan. This includes the collection of reference data from various boreholes and excavations at the site.

Noise Monitoring, Aerospace Manufacturer, UK

REC was commissioned by the client to undertake a noise monitoring survey to assist them in their IPPC permit application. This involved a preliminary assessment of likely sources of noise nuisance on the site and off site sources of residual noise. Noise levels were then measured around the site boundary and at sensitive receptor locations during day and night time as the plant ran continuously. The measurements were then assessed against BS 4142 to determine whether any significant noise nuisance was caused by the sites activities.

How Can REC Help?

REC can help you with every aspect of IPPC - from helping you with your application for a permit, to complying with the regulations on a day to day basis.

Services include:
