Legionella Treatment
Legionnaires' disease is a potentially fatal form of pneumonia that can affect anybody, it is therefore essential to control the risks.
In 1991, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) published the approved code of practice and guidance document Legionnaires' disease: The control of legionella bacteria in water systems (L8). This document outlines the legal duties and guidance for responsible persons on how to comply with the law. Ensuring a suitable Legionella risk assessment is in place forms the basis for full compliance with the legionella control regulations.
Legionella Treatment
Employers and nominated responsible persons of non-domestic properties are legally required to ensure appropriate legionella treatment measures are in place. The first stage in this process is to carry out a legionella risk assessment and develop a subsequent Legionella treatment programme including regular water sampling where there is a potential risk of exposure to Legionnaires' disease.
The risks of exposure can include:
-
Hot and Cold Water Systems;
-
Cooling Towers;
-
Evaporative Condensers;
-
Contained Water Systems.
REC Facilities Management provide a complete range of Legionella treatment services including Legionella risk assessment, Legionella treatment programmes (both electronic and paper based), water sampling and water testing to ensure full compliance with the Approved Code of Practice L8.
