REC recently completed the design, management and validation of a new mixed-use development scheme in Northwich that will ultimately comprise a new Waitrose, residential apartments and a canal marina with associated facilities.
The area, which formerly housed Northwich Marina, the Regal cinema and shoppers’ car parks will open its doors to shoppers before Christmas 2013 following completion of the plans put forwards by H2O, a national joint venture company owned by British Waterways and bloc. The £19.5 million scheme will also include access to the waterfront and a new public footpath and could create up to 230 jobs.
REC’s involvement with the project included complex geotechnical engineering to re-engineer the sub-grade for infrastucture, ex-situ bio remediation, Japanese Knotweed erradication and flood mitigation construction.
Stephanie Towers, REC Project Manager said “the team are exceptionally pleased to deliver a complex project on time, on budget and with full regulatory approval”.
