Noise and Vibration Environmental Statement Chapter |Major Development in Manchester

16.02.17

REC has supported an award winning developer with the submission of an Environmental Statement (ES). This was in support of a major mixed use development within Greater Manchester, which included residential and commercial uses as well as a new link road. As well as other environmental disciplines, Noise and Vibration input was required.

REC provided a detailed Noise and Vibration Chapter for inclusion in the wider ES, which was supported by extensive noise surveys; encompassing road traffic noise, commercial sound and background sound monitoring at existing and proposed receptors. Our Acoustic consultants undertook assessments based on pre- and post-construction and covered aspects such as construction noise and vibration, change in road traffic levels on the local road network, existing noise impacting upon the development and proposed noise sources impacting upon existing and proposed receptors.

As the application was at the outline stage, REC provided advice on potential impacts and recommendations on the potential layout and mitigation measures required to accord with current guidance.
