A local residential developer in Salford Quays required a Noise Impact Assessment for the construction of a large residential development. Consisting of 25o units across 15 stories, the site also includes a gym and mechanical and electrical plant rooms.The brownfield site, over 2,500 square metres in area, has a frontage to the canal basin and is located between The Alexandra and Millennium Estates residential buildings on Salford Quays.
An initial noise survey was undertaken, taking into consideration noise impacts from road traffic, trams, commercial use and an adjacent restaurant, which was then used to complete Noise Impact Assessments. Our Noise impact Assessments were completed using 3D Noise Modelling software from two separate leading suppliers, in order to deliver the most flexible and straight forward solutions for the client.
A comprehensive analysis as part of the Noise Impact Assessments led REC to recommend specific noise mitigation measures, ensuring that acceptable noise standards were adhered to, as well as providing an acceptable level of amenity for future residents of the scheme. This in turn, aided the local developer in making certain that planning conditions for the site were met.
