Noise Impact Assessment for Reserved Matters Application| Longstanton

16.02.17

REC has supported a reserved matters application for a parcel of land within a major mixed use development near Longstanton in Cambridgeshire. The scheme comprised of 271 residential dwellings and formed part of a wider residential led scheme. The main site constraint was the nearby Cambridgeshire guided bus way and the proposed internal through road that feeds the entire site.

The Noise Impact Assessment was informed by a noise survey and traffic data. The survey was undertaken over an entire 24 hour weekday period in order to encompass the worst case levels of noise due to buses. The Noise Impact Assessment recommended a range of noise mitigation measures in order to control noise levels within the proposed dwellings from road traffic noise, including acoustic glazing and alternative ventilation, as well as acoustic barriers to control noise in garden areas.
