UK towns found to be breaching air pollution safety levels

03.06.16

Glasgow and 11 other towns and cities in the UK have featured in data recently published by the World Health Organisation (WHO) as breaching air pollution safety levels http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-glasgow-west-36274801.

Conal Kearney Air Quality lead at UK environmental consultants REC Ltd – said ‘There’s rightly continued concern in the UK about air pollution and its effects on human health. Various initiatives aimed at improving current and future air quality have been launched around the country including Low Emission Zones and electric vehicle charging networks. REC is often asked to assess the potential impact of new property developments in urban areas and recommend ways to mitigate any air quality impacts, thus enabling those much needed developments to go ahead. It’s important to find the balance between the need for residential and commercial development and preventing environmental impact’.
